Sunday is a Great Day for a Parade
The coordination required to plan an event such as A Very Murphy Christmas is an undertaking, but to attempt to reschedule it…wow! We knew we were at the mercy of weather going into this, but thunder and lightning is far too risky and safety was the deciding factor.
I am so grateful that our community came together to salvage this part of the day’s events. So many churches and organizations invested a lot of time and resources to create a float for the parade. As I type this now, listening to the thunder and pouring rain, I can only imagine the chaos if we had been forced to cancel last-minute.
Thank you to our Murphy Police & Fire Departments, Murphy Business Association, WKRK, First United Methodist Church of Murphy, Cherokee County Schools, MHS volunteers, Cherokee Scout, Town Manager, Town Council, and Mayor of Murphy for acting so quickly this morning and spreading the word throughout our community.
To the vendors and talent that were scheduled earlier today, I am truly sorry! I was genuinely excited to enjoy your performances and locally crafted goods. I know how hard you all worked and I hope you will be a part of The MAC & Valley River Arts Guild’s final Art Walk of 2018 this Friday, December 7th.
So for now, put on a Christmas movie and rest up… tomorrow we wear ugly Christmas sweaters in the sunshine, enjoy our Christmas Parade, and watch as our beautifully decorated tree gets lit!
